Although San Antonio has one of the largest selections of Mexican cuisine anywhere in the U.S.,
the real charm of many of the local restaurants is the cozy family-operated
feel, where you always feel welcome. Tios, or "uncles" in Spanish,
has been family operated since 1991 and the family members strive to ensure
all guests feel at home. Tios is known for their enchilada and fajita plates,
but they also carry many other dishes such as flautas, chalupas, tacos, tamales,
carne asada, and more. Their dessert tray has classics such
as flan, tres leches, and rice pudding, but even with
this large selection many patrons just come to have a cup of their coffee
and relax in the mornings or a drink from the bar in the evenings. Occasionally
Tios also features live music on weekends and holidays; call for details.
